Adam's Star Wars Newsletter Returns... with Hasbro Pulse Fan Fest Coverage and More

By Adam Pawlus — Friday, April 9, 2021

As Captain Beefheart once said to hecklers, "I'm going to do what I want to do!"

I don't much like coding or social media or anything like that - but I love writing about toys.  Back in the 1990s I ran a Star Wars email newsletter called ASWN, Adam's Star Wars Newsletter, as a dial-up text email blasted out to people.  I may set up a new email server, but I brought it back as a 1995-chic web page with all the new info from today's Hasbro Pulse announcements, and some updates on upcoming comics, streaming shows, and conventions that you may have missed.

Click here to return to 1995 with a brand new issue of Adam's Star Wars newsletter.  It's all text.  That's how I want to do it.   If you don't like it, there are lots of other web pages not written by cranky middle-aged fans who started writing about toys as cranky teenage fans.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,798: Greef Karga (The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, April 8, 2021

Today in Figure of the Day: Greef Karga (The Vintage Collection). He's based on the season two costume, which looks great - that means he traded the mustache for a beard, and it's a little thin on this figure. Still, the costume translates nicely to a toy and the range of motion is pretty good considering his robes. The blaster has a working holster, too. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,797: The Child (The Black Series 6-Inch)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, April 6, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: The Child (The Black Series 6-Inch). This one was packed with Target's exclusive 6-inch Mando, and has an arm permanently raised, reaching out. Also the flying pram from the end of season one. It's tiny, but is it worth a $15 upcharge over a standard Mandalorian figue... that you'll probably never ever see in stores anyway? Read on!

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, April 5, 2021

Today in Figure of the Day: R5-Series Astromech Droid White with Purple Panels. This sat unopened in my basement for a while, but this is a really cool design with unique paint masks on the dome - and the same purple body you saw before. And it's from late 2015. Did you get one - is it too late? Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,794: Princess Leia (Bespin Escape, The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, March 30, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Princess Leia (Bespin Escape, The Vintage Collection). I assumed this was just a head swap, but it looks like nearly every piece added new elements when compared to the 11-year-old Hoth Leia figure. Having said that, the articulation is largely very much like that figure, minus any of the Rogue One-era improvements like the improved leg articulation. Still, she's great, and that's a marvelous head sculpt. The last time we got a new version of this costume was Power of the Jedi, so get this one. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,793: R0-Series Astromech Droid Black with Orange

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, March 29, 2021

Today's Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day: R0-Series Astromech Droid Black with Orange. This might be at a theme park still - I haven't been by in a few years so I can't say. This was one of the most recent part drops at Disney, which was five years ago. Do you need it? No - but it's really cool and one of only two R0 droid domes to be made so far, making it essential for me at the very least. Read on!

Q&A: Star Wars Ewoks, Size Issues, and The Really Big Ships

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, March 28, 2021

This week in Q&A - Bigger ships! There's always a bigger ship. Also Size matters - yes, 6-inch is more popular. (3 3/4-inch fans are louder, though.) And more Ewoks - sure, let's try that.

Be sure you send in your questions for next time. The mailbag is out of on-topic questions, so if you got some, send some in. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,792: The Child (The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, March 25, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: The Child (The Vintage Collection). He's tiny. He has a the hovering pram and a frog. He also costs more than the 6-inch scale one - but you will probably want this one anyway. Also I was surprised to actually see this at a Target last night. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,791: Boba Fett (The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, March 23, 2021

Today in Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day: Boba Fett (The Vintage Collection). What you'll hear about in fan circles are two missing lines on the chest - a slight blemish on what would be Hasbro's very bet Boba Fett sculpt in this size to date. There is no known running change in the works, but at least what you get looks really good - the articulation is great. The sculpting is fantastic. The colors are excellent. If you can find it, you're going to buy it anyway - it's just that good. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 2,790: R6-Series Astromech Droid White with Yellow and Silver

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, March 22, 2021

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: R6-Series Astromech Droid White with Yellow and Silver. It's a redeco of a redeco - a second take at a yellow droid for Disney parks' parts bins. It's more lemony in color, and has a few different changes from the previous release in 2012 - assuming you can find one, it's pretty nifty. Read on!

Q&A: Star Wars Lost Tooling, Boba's Torso, and Retro Figures

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, March 21, 2021

This week in Q&A - Tooling! Where does it go to die? Indy's warehouse? Under the sea? Also Boba Fett's chest - why are we all staring at it this week? And Retro Collection - will things be easier this time? Probably not.

Be sure you send in your questions for next time. The mailbag is out of on-topic questions, so if you got some, send some in. Read on!
