Figure of the Day: Day 1,362

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, September 2, 2010

There's still no Ziro the Hutt toy, but last year we did get a low run of Ziro's Assassin Droid! This repaint of IG-86 has great articulation and arguably the best paint job.  Should you get it?  Of course!  But read on anyway.

Image Bank: VC18 MagnaGuard

By Mike — Thursday, September 2, 2010

The magnificently executed VC18 MagnaGuard is today's Image Bank update. Featuring an all new more screen accurate sculpt with great articulation and a nice soft goods cape with a smadge of battle damage tattering, the MagnaGuard is well prepared to serve as Grievous' personal bodyguard. Also look out for the UGH foil chase hitting stores now!

Figure of the Day: Day 1,361

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, September 1, 2010

And speaking of Bossk, here's the finest movie version of the bounty hunter from The Empire Strikes Back yet!  He's super-articulated, and the 2007 Vintage figure now exists as a budget-friendly Saga Legends release with a display stand and a bag of extra guns.  Does he hold up after oh so many years?  Read on!

Image Bank: VC17 General Grievous

By Mike — Wednesday, September 1, 2010

VC17 General Grievous is a must collect to turn loose and wreak havoc on your Jedi and Republic forces.  Besides being a superior and definite interpretation in plastic of the Separatist general, Hasbro added sartorial points in the form of inner cape pockets for wallet, Blackberry, Mets tickets, and a couple of lightsabers.  And he's correctly scaled to boot!

Figure of the Day: Day 1,360

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, August 31, 2010

He's ancient, mean, and one of the first incarnations of Mandalore we've ever met!  He looks older and more old-tyme, but he's still quite cool.  Should you get him?  Obviously.  Read on!

Figure of the Day: Day 1,359

By Adam Pawlus — Monday, August 30, 2010

We look fondly back on many Star Wars figures, but this Hoth Rebel Trooper isn't one of them. The 2007 exclusive repaint was based on a figure which, when released in 2004, also stank.  So yeah... you don't need ot buy this one.  But read on anyway!

Q&A: Vintage Cardback Photos, TV, More TV

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, August 29, 2010

So it seems you like the vintage cardbacks but like complaining more.  I can see that.  And you’re hoping the Scramble on Yavin Battle Pack gets cheaper—which it may be already, depending on where you’re looking.  And what’s up with all the mail-in offers running right now?  Read on!

Image Bank: VC16 Obi-Wan Kenobi

By Mike — Sunday, August 29, 2010

Designated as a "Greatest Hit", Hasbro feels that VC Obi-Wan Kenobi is a figure worth repeating. It speaks to the strength of a 5 year old sculpt that the only update needed is a soft goods over a sculpted cloak. The vintage inspired card certainly adds to the peg and collection shelf appeal. Obi-Wan's out now and keep a lookout for the foil "Ultimate Galactic Hunt" card (we also feel that term is worth repeating!)

Image Bank: VC19 Clone Commander Cody

By Mike — Sunday, August 29, 2010

Let's cut to the chase and address the action figure netgulators. Yes, the VC19 Clone Commander Cody's antenna is corrected to silver and they also corrected the belt. We have the photos in our Image Bank to back it up. Other than that, the ROTS vintage cardback is really nice so you should go and pick one up!

Post-Comic-Con Posters & Goodies Giveaway WIN!

By Adam May — Saturday, August 28, 2010

So,  a couple (few) weeks ago we began monitoring [hint — encouraging] comments (for quality control, naturally) for a bit as we packed our bags and went through our checklists leading up to Celebration V in Orlando, FL. Comments, as we noted at the time, could lead to goodies like Hasbro's Star Wars posters from Comic-Con 2010 (and maybe even surplus posters going back a few years); a set (or more once we take stock) of those oh-so frame-worthy backer cards (from Hasbro, naturally); and whatever goodies we stumble upon along the way. As always, the most stylish replies win*.  (Void where prohibited, watch your language, prizes available while supplies last, and this offer is only valid in the continental United States. *Most stylish replies are determined by, well, me... so address to impress or something. Comic-Con freebies contest ends [ended] on August 10 because Celebration V travel and check-in is busy time.)

Image Bank: VC15 Clone Trooper

By Mike — Saturday, August 28, 2010

Hasbro recycles the Gelagrub Clone into a generic ROTS clean white "Vintage" version everyone can army build. VC15 Clone Trooper is now ready for perusal in our Image Bank!

Image Bank: VC14 Sandtrooper

By Mike — Saturday, August 28, 2010

If you missed out on the Wal-Mart exclusive Dewback, here's your chance to army build with the new VC14 Sandtrooper. We have to admit that seeing the cardback featuring a POTF2 Sandtrooper on an orange card waxes nostalgic. Can you believe it's been 15 years?

Image Bank: VC13 Anakin Skywalker

By Mike — Saturday, August 28, 2010

Where the master falls short, the apprentice shines. VC13 Anakin Skywalker is clearly the best iteration of the chosen one yet. Superb sculpt, super articulation, and soft goods that work. Heck, they even nailed the hair.

Star Wars Uncut Wins Emmy

By Mike — Saturday, August 28, 2010

Hundreds of Internet users remade “Star Wars: A New Hope” into a fan film last year, 15 seconds at a time. This month they all played a part in Emmy history. The finished product, Star Wars Uncut,” won an Emmy last week in a relatively new category, interactive media, heaping new attention onto a project that its producers call a “user-directed broadcast.”
