This is an interesting one. Hasbro's Tantive IV playset is a big hallway that can connect with itself so you can expand and make a whole ship - but sadly, there's no actual ship to be had. There are opening doors and a reissue of the previously released The Vintage Collection Rebel Fleet Trooper with requisite changes, but that's a good thing. You'll probably want 2-3 of these when they come out very early next year.
It'll be $49.99. You can order yours at Entertainment Earth, and also Amazon... or the toy sellers that don't kick us back a few pennies or dollars when you click those links and place an order. So we suggest those links. It's called bias.
Coming from Hasbro, a Darth Vader (Rogue One) The Vintage Collection figure! It'll go great with that Tantive IV playset you'll be buying by the case to build out a battle scene. It looks like Vader is mostly - or entirely - new parts, which is unusual these days! Hasbro also took care to ensure you can see that they are using the correct gloves. And we glove you, Hasbro. This looks pretty dynamic and surprisingly spry for a 3 3/4-inch scale figure.
You can order Darth Vader or a full case of his unrevealed wave at Entertainment Earth, or order at Amazon. And those are both affiliate links, so we may get pennies or dollars if you click and buy something.
In "if this doesn't make you nervous, nothing will" news, Walgreens Exclusive Star Wars: The Black Series Clone Trooper Lieutenant! This completes the Attack of the Clones quartet of ranking officers and is expected to be in stores next month. (There are other non-Star Wars Hasbro exclusives coming too... but those haven't been announced yet.) It's the repaint you expected, and a handy addition to your Clone gaggles.
GameStop got The Black Series Jedi Fallen Order Purge Trooper with Electrostaff! Who's surprised? The last version sold out quickly and hopefully will show up again somehow, some day, for those who missed out. This new version is up for pre-order now for $24.99. (Protip: shipping is free when you buy 2. That's what I did. You can trade it for the one you miss later.)
Not to be outdone are two packs for Amazon. These are great for your average consumer, but the long-term collector already has most of these. These are what you'll be buying for Christmas presents to the kids you're going to force Star Wars upon this holiday season. Best Buy got the villains, and Amazon got the heroes. As far as I can tell, none of these figures are particularly new other than R2-D2 looks like a different combo platter of parts for you completists.
The figures are largely collected from The Force Awakens, Saga Legends, The Last Jedi.
You can click here to order them from Amazon.com, and yes we do get a few pennies through that affiliate link so please do click it.
For the Celebrate the Saga line, Hasbro gave Best Buy two exclusive 5-packs for $29.99 a pop. You can click here to order them if supplies are still available. The First Order set does not appear to have new figures, but may have deco changes - we'll keep you posted in Figure of the Day as these arrive in the next couple of months. Its Galactic Empire set does have a new droid redeco which may be of more interest - Hasbro and Disney have done many R2-Q5 figures over the years, but this one looks different, so prepare to shell out some cash.
Click here to check availability. We are not in an affiiliate program with them so if you want to support the site, click our other affiliate links/advertisers.
Hasbro's Celebrate the Saga collection includes 8 packs. 4 are main line, 2 are for Amazon exclusives, and 2 are Best Buy exclusives. The pitch I heard was each set has 5-jointed figures and is the last hurrah for the format - at least for now - with 4-5 figures brought back and 0-1 redeco droids. It looks like they may have enhanced face paint, but it's hard to tell from the photos and I did not hear about it previously.
Each set is due this fall for about $29.99. Click here to order at affiliate/advertiser Amazon, or click here to order at Entertainment Earth.
The Star Wars FX Emperor Palpatine Lightsaber - or Darth Sidious Lightsaber, really - is $249.99 and coming out later this year. It's one of the fancier models, like the Darth Revan one due to ship pretty soon. The lightsaber blade is indeed removable, and it includes a display stand.
You can order one at sponsor Entertainment Earth or affiliate, Amazon.
If you liked it in tan, or in red at GameStop, you'll also probably love the Battle Droid (Geonosis, The Black Series 6-Inch)! It's loaded with articulation, incudes a backpack you can swap out for an antenna pack, and can crounch down into a "deploy" mode if you're so inclined. It's a great sculpt and hopefully we'll see a few more of these brought out and reissued over the coming months to meet squad building demand. Read on!
This Plo Koon (The Black Series 6-Inch) is OK. It's not a completely new figure - it's a Mace Windu body with new hands, a new head, and a new robe. (Similarly Kit Fisto is a refaced Obi-Wan Kenobi.) Given Plo Koon has had a couple of distinctive outfits between the movies and TV show, it's entirely possible you'd never notice if you left him mint in box with the robes over everything. But I did open it, so here's a look at the Jedi Master. Read on!
This week in Q&A - Vehicle prices - why yes, everything is more expensive. Jumbo Figures - is the Gentle Giant line gone for good? And the Retro Collection - what's next?
Be sure you send in your questions for next time. Read on!
The Attack of the Clones edition of Anakin Skywalker (The Black Series 6-Inch) is one of Hasbro's very best action figures. Sure, it reuses some parts from the Revenge of the Sith version, but that head is a gem. The paint and the sculpt are absolutely on point, so you should get one. I don't care if you don't like the prequels, you just need to get one and give it an up-close look because it is a little plastic triumph. Read on!
The Target-exclusive Moloch (The Black Series 6-Inch) is most likely long gone from your store shelves, but if you see it, it's pretty cool. It's a big worm alien and it looks right at home in Jabba's Palace, which is good as Hasbro has been hesitant to outfit that scene with additional figures. Read on!
This week in Q&A - The new Falcon! I don't have one, but I did read the press release. Are retail toy experiences over? If you're a collector, it seems that way - at least for now. And more reissues - I'd expect more.
