The final wave of The Vintage Collection (available online only) is now IN STOCK with our sponsors at BigBadToyStore.com! This wave includes an all new Royal Guard, Weequay, Nien Nunb, Republic Trooper and more!
This week on The Clone Wars: things happen! Not extent to wallow in and repeat exposition, the oddly named "The Soft War" bring us more action, more character, and actual events that you can recount as being different from the events you have seen previously. It's almost like we're spoiled! Ahsoka gets to be cool, Steela gets to show off, and we get to see some one-way shielding, which is apparently now a thing. As always, spoilers and video await you!
Ahhhh Luke Skywalker. This has gone from a hotly-requested resculpt from Hasbro to something they try every year or two, to varying degrees of success. Since 2009 Hasbro has been trying some really interesting things with the Black Jedi costume, which follows the 2007 costume, which was just plain awful. How does this one stack up? Since you may not be able to find it, does it matter? (Of course it does, you can buy one online.)
It's definitely the best Star Wars 3.75 inch vehicle Hasbro has ever produced and nicely repackaged Vintage style for ToysRUs and the holidays. But at $250, which is $100 more than when it was first released four years ago ($149.99), collectors will have to dig deeper in their pockets this time around. That's a lot of upcharge for packaging.
ToysRUs is offering a $50 coupon off the Multi Troop Transport (MTT) beginning on October 28th for their Big Book promotion. While looking like a great deal at face value, the reality is that it merely matches what other stores like Walmart is charging.
New York Comic Con was a great time for Star Wars fans. From new toy reveals from Hasbro and their Angry Birds Star Wars to new collectible and product announcements from Hallmark, Kotobukiya, and more, and convention veteran Mitchell Hallock was on-hand to cover it all. Join us on Star Wars Action News this week to hear his recollection of the con, along with interviews with Kotobukiya, Hallmark, Comic Images, and a discussion of Star Wars toys with Toy Hunter Hembrough!
Another look back at the now-classic Clone Wars figure line! This Clone Trooper comes from the Tartakovsky era of the show, when the microseries aired in tiny bite-sized chunks. The figure has excellent painted detail and looks like a 2D drawing come to life. It's also dirt cheap. Should you track this one down?
Hey hey, it's Clone Commander Wolffe! It's a new-for-2012 figure which you might actually find at a store near you. Articulation isn't exceptional, but it's a nice design with a good sculpt. (It could stand to be cheaper, of course.) So should you get it?
Hey everybody, we're going to take a break this week for Q&A so I can work on some other projects, like Figure of the Day, Galactic Hunter Video Theater, and unpacking my toys from my last move which was now about 12 1/2-months ago. As I go through the archives here in my offices, please don't hesitate to send in any questions you may have for an upcoming installment of everybody's favorite Star Wars Q&A column.*
From Bricks To Bothans have posted images of Series 3 and 4 of LEGO's Planet Series planned for 2013.
ToysRUs has listed a "shirtless" Darth Maul minifigure for an as of yet undetermined gift with purchase promotion (Big Book?). The minifigure is listed for $4.99 which opens up the possibility that you can just buy on its own.
This week in Galactic Hunter Video Theater, it's something from NPR! I'll never understand why but for some reason Star Wars was adapted to radio, and it's quite neat. The first episode "A Wind to Shake The Stars" is all about Luke Skywalker doing things we never saw in the movies. Camie? Fixer? Biggs? They're all here. Could this be ground zero for the shared delusion of many fans believing they saw these characters in theaters? It's possible! So read on, good reader!
From our sponsors at BriansToys.com: This week features several convention exclusives you may have seen earlier this year. Available now is the Retro-Style Wave 14 with Jar Jar Binks in Carbonite, Marvel Universe Masters of Evil, GI Joe Kim Arashikage, and a giant Transformers Bruticus!
The Jedi High Council sets are... uh... well, they're a little overrated. Eeth Koth is basically repeated in this set ("Agen Kolar" my eye) and the entire package is something of a disappointment. So why not read about it? I have no idea. It's a thing you can do.
