For years many fans' holy grail for the Star Wars 3.75-inch collection has been an original trilogy vehicle never realized in either vintage or modern era--Jabba's Sail Barge. The scale and scope of such a vehicle has made it seemingly prohibitive, but at this year's New York Comic-Con the Star Wars brand team mentioned that they could possibly do it.
It's time to look at the Republic Trooper from Hasbro's Star Wars: The Vintage Collection 2012 Wave 7! This one comes from the MMO The Old Republic, which you could be playing right now. But you're not, you're reading this... but why read, when you can watch a short video review? It's only a minute and change, so check it out after the jump.
So the BIG Vintage Millennium Falcon flew in last week in all its $250 glory and collectors are wondering about the other ToysRUs big holiday exclusive, the ROTJ Vintage Endor AT-AT with uniquely painted "poopie feet". The partial answer lies with our neighbors to the north.
Check out this awesome figure! The Red R2-Series Astromech Droid is, like, super-red. Almost orange, that's how red it is. You can only get it at Star Tours in Orlando... or perhaps eBay, and let me tell you it's arguably worth it. Want to know more? Read on!
Let's look at Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Wave 7! He's from the new internet-only wave, which i the last batch of figures on this packging for a little while. The sculpt is great, the articulation is top-notch, and the figure is effectively a really slick "realistic" interpretation of the 2008 animated figure... but with more articulation. Watch the full review, after the jump!
So how about another video review? 2012 Wave 7, the online exclusive batch of action figures, has started shipping and if you preordered them you probably already have them. Today we're going to do a video review of Ahsoka, a realistic interpretation of the character in her season 3 costume. It's pretty good. I think you'll like it, so watch it after the jump. If you don't, we know where you work, and we'll find you.
The annual ToysRUs Big Book is out today and it has a few Star Wars deals that you may want to look into. I guess there was a reason why my local TRU's had so many Republic Attack Shuttles upstocked on the top shelf.
This week in Galactic Hunter Video Theater, it's Troops, arguably the first fan film phenomenon of the internet age! In it, we see a bunch of special effects and voiceover pros put together 10 minutes that were, to say the least, a huge deal in the era of dial-up internet. In it, you'll see pre-501st Legion costumes and some sharp design work come together from 1997. Creator Kevin Rubio got quite a few decent gigs writing Star Wars comics (also The Clone Wars) as after doing Troops, so check it out after the break!
Sideshow Collectibles has been kind this month, delivering three great new products to our store. Commander Neyo, STAP with Battle Droid, and the Tusken Raider are available now, and we must admit, this Tusken Raider is the best yet! Also new are Masters of the Universe Classics Frosta and Rattlor.
The second-ever commando to get a carded release, this animated The Clone Wars edition of Republic Commando Boss is really a nice toy and an unfortunate reminder that he's got a few brothers that haven't yet been rendered in plastic. There's an awesome, clever backpack accessory and the figure's chunky build is really quite excellent.
He's armed to the hilt and ready to do some serious hurt on some unsuspecting bounty, at least according to Sideshow's Mythos expression. Standing about 19 inches tall (26 inches with the long blaster rifle), the upcoming Mythos Boba Fett strikes a compelling pose and ready for you to pre-order as a Sideshow exclusive.
It's beginning to look a lot like…? Not yet, but it's almost here and ToysRUs is where the stuff is at the moment with their exclusive, expensive, and beautifully retro Kenner repackaged (B)ig (M)illennium (F)alcon. Now to that $250 conundrum.
Our friend Sebulba is a fine example of everything good and bad with the figures this year. A redeco of a very good mold from 10 years ago, he's never looked better. He's also an exclusive, who came out late, who's the only Sebulba of the year, and doesn't fit in the Sebulba Pod Racer vehicle which came out months earlier. Ah well! At least he's a good figure on his own, right? Find out!
