Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Hasbro do that Grogu (The Book of Boba Fett, The Retro Collection) that they do so well!
This is a pretty clever idea for a product. It's a reissue of the obscure Kenner Dagoah training backpack, with a reissue of "The Child" and a frog from 2021. Since the wave never hit mass market retailers it can be tough to say if it sold well or not, but I rarely saw them on closeout shelves and odds are a lot of fans might want it just for the backpack. I think it's worth getting, but I generally like all of these a fair amount. Also I believe this is my last unreviewed Retro figure until the red dot ships their exclusive set around the end of the month. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Velken Tezeri (The Vintage Collection). The 2023 figure is the first - and likely only - incarnation we get of this guy. I'm delighted and amazed Hasbro did him at all, given the obscurity. Read on!
Head over to Instagram and check out Fantha Tracks' post on a new action figure set. The Book of Boba Fett collection will be coming to Disney parks soon, and includes R5-R4 (drinks), R0-1N6 (drums), GS-C1B, and JZR-T (salads and go.) There are several photos so be sure to page through the gallery as you take bets on if they are holding it for May 4 or if it will go up sooner.
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Yoda (Epic World of Action). I got mine online, and I hope you'll see it in stores. For $8 you get Hasbro's best prequel-era Yoda figure yet, with excellent articulation and three good accessories. The lightsaber is no surprise, the Sith energy thing is pretty cool... but a tiny clear green Starfighter? Now that's impressive.
The 2025 figure has those ball-ish shoulders you love, plus swivel wrists. If you only buy one figure from this particular range of figures, it should be Yoda. The other figures in the wave have more articulation and features, but only Yoda has a tiny ship. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Jedi Master Sol (The Retro Collection). He came out last year as part of a boxed set for a Disney+ streaming series, with unique robes using surprisingly cool material. He has an extra chunk of hair on his head, the articulation is good, and he's been off and on sale. But do you need one? Read on!
Also, check out a new (but old-looking) mini site for the Retro Collection. Here is a big list of action figures along with links to existing reviews, and places where you can buy them while they're hopefully still cheap. If you've ever wondered how many aliens, vinyl capes, droids, or removable helmets were in this line it's your lucky day.
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: IG-12 with Grogu and Anzellan (The Vintage Collection Deluxe). Most likely in a store near you somewhere, the figure is $25 - and has a couple of little guys with it, and those aren't cheap to make. But it's also a retool of a figure you probably purchased for half the price a few years ago. Read on!
Ad: More oldness! If you missed the hard-to-get (and expensive on the secondary market Star Wars The Retro Collection Return of the Jedi 3 34-Inch Action Figures Set of 6 - Exclusive, you can get it! It's one of many Star Wars: The Retro Collection action figures and sets at Entertainment Earth. This set is famous for having a reissue of Yak Face as well as a new-to--the-line Mon Mothma, both of which are due to ship later this year.
If you're new to this line and want something else to get sooner, I recommend the Star Wars Ahsoka Retro Collection 3 3/4-Inch Action Figures Wave 2 Case of 8. Why? Chopper is a lot like the old R2-D2, Sabine Wren has an awesome removable helmet and extra accessories, Hera Syndulla is really good, and this particular Ahsoka has retooled hands. It's a good pack.
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Darth Vader (Epic World of Action). The 2025 model has more motion at the shoulders and hips, plus adds knee and elbow joints. The lightsaber is overpowered too, take a look at the energy bolts coming from it - it's pretty cool, and hopefully will be in a store near you soon. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: R2-BNE (Bunny, Holiday Droid Factory). After selling out online, an announcement for this figure fast became one of my most-reblogged and liked Tumblr posts. I'm not sure if the theme parks still have it in stock - it's a Disney Parks exclusive - but you should probably grab it soon if you see it. It has new rabbit ears on the same mold Disney has been using, but do you have another blue and pink droid? Probably not. So get this one! Your friends will love it, so buy an extra for them, too. Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: General Grievous (The Retro Collection). This one feels old-school, but more like a figure from the mid-2000s - his lateral arm movement is unique, but the head deco feels a lot like something from the actual Revenge of the Sith toy line. I think they did a nice job making stompier and more stable feet, though.. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Jecki Lon (The Retro Collection) . This is the only alien in The Acolyte set, and it's a short Jedi with a blue face and horns - but it also looks different from most of your other figures from this line or of this size. It's also currently the only 3 3/4-inch scale version of this character. She is sold in a six pack with other figures from the series. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Taym Dren-Garen (The Vintage Collection). I can't believe he exists, either - the retool (!) looks just like the human actor (!!) and it's a great addition to that shelf of minor characters that has been growing very slowly over the past decades. Also he's long sold out... but a good figure, if you can find one. Read on!
Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Anakin Skywalker (The Retro Collection). This one came out last year, and is very similar to the old Kenner figures minus the pose and texture. But it's close - and I like the format enough to say consider getting it anyway. Read on!
