It's been way overdue, but Star Wars action figures have been inducted to the National Toy Hall of Fame for 2012, along with Dominoes. With over $20 billion in sales generated since 1978, Star Wars action figure toys beat out Clue, Lite Brite, and the Magic 8 Ball for the honor.
Gentle Giant has released their latest solicitations featuring new and exciting product slated for release in Q2 2013, including the phenomenal "realistic" Spider Maul Statue and the animated style Dewback and Sandtrooper.
Love it or hate it, it's hard to deny that this Darth Maul has the best portrait on any version of the character at this scale. It's awesome. The articulation is a little light, but the figure looks better and stands more easily than his siblings. Can we call this one a "win"?
Here's a neat repaint from a Battle Pack earlier this year. Clone Trooper Hardcase is a new-ish figure in that he's a new character based on a familiar mold, and arguably worth the price of admission. Did you get yours yet?
Dark Horse releases their solicitations for February 2013. Titles include the second issue of the new ongoing Star Wars series, Agents of the Empire: Hard Targets, and Prisoner of Bogan #4.
You now have another option for the 104th Battalion "Wolf Pack" Gift Set as Target.com now has it in stock for $29.99 each. The Gift Pack, originally intended as a Walmart exclusive, includes Plo Koon, Clone Commander Wolffe, Clone Trooper Sinker, and Clone Trooper Boost.
At Five Below stores across the country an unusual figure is showing up. It was first reported at Jedi Temple Archives.com and has been spotted by many collectors, including Arnie and Marjorie of Star Wars Action News. It's a variant of the 212th Battalion Clone Trooper with a more detailed, more white helmet. But the odd thing is, the figure has seemingly been opened, then taped back shut. Have you found this new variant?
This week on The Clone Wars: adventures in Padawan-sitting! While last week's episode looked expensive, "A Test of Strength" cuts the budget by keeping us on a ship for most of the episode with fewer new characters added to the mix. The Tenth Doctor, David Tennant, guest-stars as one of the best new characters the show has ever seen while Hondo Ohnaka returns for a more villainous appearance. As always, spoilers and video await you!
Hey kids, it's the Emperor's Royal Guard! The new Vintage version is a pretty slick figure with all of the bells and whistles you might expect from a 2012 figure, with one major missing feature. What is it? Well, watch the review after the break, true believers!
The Silver and Red Droid Factory R2-Series Astromech Droid is very much like R2-M5, but it's a little bit more orange and has a hole in his head for the purposes of hats. This is a good reason to buy a figure. Hats = better. This one is shown in Mickey Mouse ears, but... geez, if that isn't an apt metaphor for the last few weeks I don't know what is.
Sith happens! Hahahaha kill me. This Darth Vader is showing up in greater numbers after debuting as a swell Comic-Con 2012 International exclusive. It's basically the Vintage figure with some new bits. Is it worth the $10?

So let's talk classic cuts of the original trilogy in this week's Q&A, because, why not? Are we going to see drastic changes to licensing? And what kind of pod racer figures do you need to supply a kid with all the important stuff? All this, Iron Fists, and more in this week's exciting-ish column!
