Good morning, Hunters! It's that one day of the year where shoppers are convinced they're getting a great deal, when in reality, the savings are of small consequence compared to the pain of long lines, no parking, and grumpy people in general. For Star Wars collectors, ToysRUs and Walmart have their exclusive Black Friday deals we reported on earlier and they're actually pretty good.
If you can't afford Gentle Giant's animated maquettes, Hasbro's animated action figures like Obi-Wan Kenobi are a pretty good deal, largely because they are now sort of worthless. There's a little bit of articulation, and it's a striking sculpt with strong lines. On eBay, an entire collection is still ridiculous. Should you get this one?
Galactic Hunter wishes a Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. This hilarious diorama featuring your favorite Star Wars action figures courtesy of photographer Stephen Hayford.
Get excited for Black Friday! Our sponsor Entertainment Earth has marked down dozens of items, plus is offering Free Shipping and BOGO Deals on hundreds of other items! Save big on a Luke Skywalker Ceremonial Jacket with the Medal of Yavin Prop Replica! Get Kit Fisto's Jedi Starfighter for just $10! Complete your Pop! Vinyl Collection - buy 3, get a 4th free! Also check out several special prices on older Hasbro Star Wars items and much, much more after the jump.
This version of Princess Leia came out earlier in the year, and she's a neat one. A mix of the 2009 Slave figure with new parts (like goggles), this is a pretty nice design and comes from one of the many deleted scenes on the 2011 Blu-Ray collection. Should you get her?
Do you hear that? That is the sound of a thousand Black Friday shoppers headed to the annual retail tradition and marking the "official" start of the holiday shopping season. GHR has compiled a list for that Star Wars fan and collector in your galaxy that spans a variety of things and a range of price points. Whether you decide to brave the lines or stay home and shop on Cyber Monday, we've got you covered, from a certain point of view. Happy Holiday Hunting!
This week on The Clone Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, General Grievous, and Jedi Kids Join a Space Circus! This week, you're going to be infuriated that we aren't getting more Clone Wars toys. Do you know what "Bound For Rescue" has? A circus. I was delighted to see a bunch of the obscure Star Wars creatures from a few of the lavish hardcover books, but we also got to see a Gamorrean Clown. OH MY GOD THIS IS AWESOME WHY AREN'T YOU WATCHIIIIIIIIIING? As always, spoilers and video await you!
Pretty closely scaled to figures, the Naboo Nuna is also known as the intergalactic equivalent of our Thankgiving bird. The "Swamp Turkey" comes from a Battle Bags set from 1999, which brought us about 16 unarticulated PVC figures from The Phantom Menace which are, frankly, awesome.
To celebrate the re-launch of the new Galactic Hunter Forums, we're going to giveaway a very sought after U.S. boxed Mandalorian Assault Transport to one lucky registered forum member!
From our sponsors at Brian's Toys: This week features four brand-new Gentle Giant pre-orders, new Angry Birds, Vintage Loose AFA, and Vintage-Style Wave 15!
Awwww yeah! R2-D2 made from build-a-droid bits! Well, one of two, but this one is nifty because it has a Naboo Droid Harness plus a nifty blue light on his dome, which is unusual. He looks great! Should you care?
More questions! Will this week's Q&A address how Disney may affect the Tonnika Sisters? Sort of. What's the scoop with fan-sanctioned stuff going forward? And just for fun let's dump on street dates some more, because everyone hates them, a and if you don't, you should. Be sure to send in your questions for next time, too!
As a kid, the TV show Ewoks was a pretty significant part of my Star Wars experience. After all, as of 1983 they were basically the new direction of the franchise with two spin-off films and 26 half-hours on the teevee. The characters saw some rather severe redeisgns along with some pretty creative villains drawing from existing concepts and fantastic newness. This week we look at Sunstar vs. Shadowstone, which stood out in my head for years as a massive mighty magic match-up between Logray, the Ewok Medicine Man, and Morag, the Tulgah Witch.
It's the new Aayla Secura! This is a great upgrade for a figure most of us thought was pretty good - the new 2012 edition has amazing articulation, more gear, and an improved paint job. The 2005 one was already really good, so you'll want to see what's on the table this time around.
