Hasbro Star Wars SDCC and PulseCon Figures Revealed

By Adam Pawlus — Wednesday, July 12, 2023

We had two reveals today. One (pictured) is Collider's 'The Book of Boba Fett's Black Krrsantan Heads to SDCC With Epic New Hasbro Figure [Exclusive], a $40 variant of a $28 pre-order you forgot you made already. Pre-order QR codes will be distributed at San Diego Comic-Con International next week. It is worth noting the variant has an alternate head, so you may want both versions or you may be perfectly happy with the cheaper (and I think better-looking) closed-mouth main line version. The pre-order for the standard release shows a lot of those accessories, so unless someone made an error the plussed-up more-expensive edition may not even be worth your while.

The other is Fandom's reveal of Starkiller Strikes in New Force Unleashed Star Wars The Black Series Figure Set, a $110.99 set that gives you two figures you got for around $19.99 in 2020 and one new figure. This one is slated for Hasbro's PulseCon event, which usually is a pre-recorded showing of new stuff over a weekend in September.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,045: Paz Vizsla (The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, July 11, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Paz Vizsla (The Vintage Collection). This one is kind of fascinating - it shows what Hasbro can do with a higher budget. They decided to make a more expensive figure, so elements that would normally be painted - like the yellow armor - are now molded in color. He has more gear and more articulation, plus tons of paint applications. Is he great? Absolutely. Is it worth $28 instead of a simpler figure at $10-$15 with less stuff? Maybe - but at least you can see where the money went here. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,044: Luthen Rael (The Black Series)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, July 6, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Luthen Rael (The Black Series). Slightly more compelling than the title character of Andor, Hasbro made this figure with a top-notch head sculpt, baggy pants, and some joints that stuck a little more than I'd have liked - but hey, use the force, things start to move. Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,043: R4 Unit (Orange, 2023 Pride Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, July 4, 2023

Today is supposedly about the red, white, and blue, but may we also recommend: R4 Unit (Orange, 2023 Pride Collection). Your unsurprising summary: they took an old mold, made it taste like Orange Crush, and now it's awesome. I hope you picked this set up, this is the kind of creative "it still seems like it fits in the toy box" look I'd like to see more often. Read on!

Also due to legacy issues - namely what happens when you run a site for too long and a person running a platform made changes to how you can post and the person who set it up is no longer with us - we are sadly no longer able to log in to Twitter @GalacticHunter to post updates.  Those updates will now go to @Adam16bit along with my other toy updates.  Please follow us there for SDCC updates and more as the summer continues.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,042: Jawa (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, June 29, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Jawa (The Retro Collection). With a slightly different hood sculpt, this little guy's cloth hood is a spectacularly good match of the original. I like the detail, the color change is interesting, and it's one of the better remakes. They even changed the blaster color a bit -so you can add him to your sandcrawler and he still looks different enough to be interesting. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,041: Grogu (The Rescue Set, The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, June 27, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Grogu (The Rescue Set, The Vintage Collection). It's a new sculpt, it's arguably an accessory, and it's not really bad. As part of a $75 set you won't be feeling you got your money's worth, but at least it's decent. Read on!

ICYMI: Healey Made Shadow Assassin and Raider Still Available

By Adam Pawlus — Sunday, June 25, 2023

MartyIf you like indie toys, retro Kenner-style and compatible figures, and lizard beings, have I got a link for you. Healey Made Returns with Assassin (Shadow), in stock now, along with the Raider (V.2)! If she looks familiar, she's similar to the Assassin (R-Complex) from 2021. The Raider was available last month and is a redeco similar to the original painted release from 2019. I've got these figures in other colors and they're one of my favorite things to pick up here and there, despite the price. The runs are pretty stunningly low, so if you want something special to pilot your old mini-rigs give these a look.

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,040: Chewbacca (Boushh's Bounty, The Black Series)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, June 22, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Chewbacca (Boushh's Bounty, The Black Series). Hasbro really doesn't like to make new Chewbacca bodies - we're still getting the Vintage 2004 one, and this The Black Series body shares the same basic build as every 6-inch scale Wookiee so far. But he has a new head, so that's something. It's new, technically, and the collar does some neat things intertwining with the fur around the neck. Otherwise? More of the same. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,039: R2 Unit (Red, 2023 Pride Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, June 20, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: R2 Unit (Red, 2023 Pride Collection). Given a lot of things, it really is getting better - minus some missing paint detail under the droid's eye, this R2 unit is a colorful creation that stands out as not looking like the hundreds of astromech droids you may already have. A dark red dome on a bright red body with some pink highlights? Awesome. I like this one - and it's part of a set of six, so we'll be coming back to these over the coming weeks. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,038: Death Squad Commander (The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, June 15, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Death Squad Commander (The Retro Collection). Known as the Star Destroyer Commander after the first couple of years, this bowl-headed fellow has a straighter rank pin but his skin color is a little weirder than the original. He's part of a Shop Disney/Hasbro Pulse shared exclusive boxed set - and I recommend checking both stores to compare pricing. Last time I checked, the set was significantly cheaper on Hasbro Pulse. Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,033: Boba Fett (Kenner Flavor, The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, June 13, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Boba Fett (Kenner Flavor, The Vintage Collection). I haven't seen one of these in stores for about a month, but I did find mine on-shelf before any shipped online - and other than the price, it's a pretty good figure. The colors aren't a perfect match, but I like someone nodding to Kenner yet again. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,036: Moff Gideon (Mission Fleet)

By Adam Pawlus — Thursday, June 8, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Moff Gideon (Mission Fleet). Sure, it's a toy, and yes, it's on clearance, but Hasbro did a really great job here. The face sculpt and deco are good, the TIE Fighter is genuinely impressive, and if this were a 3 3/4-inch scaled vehicle with a realistically proportioned figure you'd be all over it. But it wasn't - so I bought one at Burlington on clearance for a few bucks, and it's absolutely worth it. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,035: See-Threepio (C-3PO, The Retro Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, June 6, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: See-Threepio (C-3PO, The Retro Collection). While some of the retro figures - while good - lack some details or seem a little soft in spots, C-3PO seems to be extremely close to the original, even more so than some of the third-party remakes. The details around his bolts and belly are all there, and while it's not 100% identical to the 1978 figure it's certainly close enough. He even has the metal bolt in his back - go ask your magnets to prove it for you. You should get this one. Read on!

Star Wars Figure of the Day: Day 3,033: Kithaba (2023 Reissue, The Vintage Collection)

By Adam Pawlus — Tuesday, May 30, 2023

Via the Star Wars Galactic Hunter Figure of the Day Blog: Kithaba (2023 Reissue, The Vintage Collection). Take three! The first one had a brown bandanna, then there was a red variation. This one from last month has some of that fancy tiny dot printing, giving it a slightly different look - especially if you squint and have a microscope. But you don't, so it's just a good new edition of an alien figure that you probably very much want. Read on!

Healey Made Shadow Raider v. 2 Available Now

By Adam Pawlus — Saturday, May 27, 2023

RaiderVia the Glyos News Dump: Healey Made Menu: May 27, 2023. Several years ago, the first painted Healey Made Glyos figure was the Raider (Shadow) - this new one changes up a few paint hits, and adds a cloth cape to the mix. It's basically just different enough to make you mad, but I bought one anyway. Click here to see if it's still able to be ordered. At press time it's still available for $25 and is a nice fit with your original Kenner figures, even if it's not really a Star Wars guy.
