With three eyes, Ree-Yees has been one of the more recognizable aliens form the Star Wars saga since his 1983 action figure debut. Kenner refreshed him in 1998 and this 2014 edition is the first new one in over a decade. He's a big upgrade on almost every possible metric, minus a new ball joint in the waist popping apart easily which means he pretty much can't sit. However, he does have sculpted trigger fingers which was nothing short of amazing. Go ahead and get one. He's good!  Ree-Yees is Hasbro's finest work in the field of Gran development.  If you need a figure to stand on a Sail Barge or Jabba's Throne Room diorama, there is none better.  I assume most readers of this site are not concerned about figures sitting, because trying to make him sit will cause his torso to blow open.  (It's easily remedied, like the ball-joint head on most figure necks.) Due to how this figure is likely to perform in your life, this is probably going to have to be rounded up to acceptable as there are no real vehicles for him right now.  Is this figure the go-to Ree-Yees you've been waiting for? Yes.  But read on anyway for more pictures!

I expected that Jakks Pacific would hold the crown with a 20- or even 31-inch take on the Bounty Hunter we all love, but no - this was not to be.  It turns out that the Comic-Con debut of the  Star Wars Boba Fett Life-Size Vintage Kenner Action Figure (pre-order yours, if you dare) takes the cake at 6-feet tall.  Gentle Giant makes this figure to sell similarly sized Stormtrooper and Darth Vader action figures.  That's 72-inches of your Boba Fettish complete with red rocket, blue blaster, and a display stand.   Having seen one up close myself, I can tell you that it's the kind of thing any of us should be so lucky to have in our office.

Almost the greated Darth Vader figure ever conceived is in today's Figure of the Day! The Episode III 2014 incarnation is so, so close - but the head falls off really easily.  The bend-and-swivel wrists, rocker ankles, and ball-jointed torso are perfection.  The ball-jointed hips? Wonderous. The sculpt is pretty good too - but if you turn the head, the helmet falls right off.  Still, diorama fans should snag it and carded fans too.  Read on!  (Also order yours at Entertainment Earth.)

So, ready for a new General Grievous?  I was! This one is tall, and that's great.  He stays standing unassisted longer than his predecessor, but the Mission Series figure will still topple over in a matter of hours.   As such, he'll need a doll stand - but he fits in the Grievous' Starfighter vehicle, and looks pretty fantastic.  Should you get one?  Read on!

Another one! This Obi-Wan Kenobi (Mission Series Utapau) is a tiny bit different from the normal release - probably not enough for most people to notice, so like Darth Vader you may wish to skip it unless you want that pretty cool - and huge - General Grievous from the 2-pack.  Read on!

If you like Bespin, you'll probably dig Luke Skywalker from the Mission Series.  Sure, it comes with a Darth Vader you probably own - but this Luke has 5 joints and a working holster!  It ain't bad - it could use yellower hair, but you can't get lemon-headed figures all the time I guess.  Read on!

This Darth Vader was packaged with Luke in a Bespin Mission Series 2-pack.  It's virtually identical to a 2013 release, save for some of the chest sculpting and other batch variances.  The Luke ain't bad, but he's tomorow - read on to find out more about Darth Vader!

Oh... yeah!  Figure of the Day is back with Darth Sidious, a simultaneously fantastic and weird take on the Sith Lord from the most recent Star Wars movie which, at 9 years old, means we're all dying. Slowly.   It's a fun figure, particularly the split robe pants - these are just fantastic.  Read on!

As we pass a little over the halfway point of 2014, many collectors are wondering if this has been the worst year of collecting ever. While we’ve had some highlights for The Black Series, especially in the 6 inch scale, one can’t help but feel that 2014 is more of a “placeholder” year. A transition period that came as a result of the dynamic changes for the franchise in 2013 with Hasbro having to change up strategy and make quick realignments of their resources for Episode 7. It sure seems that way with the scarcity of product since the beginning of the year. But based on what Hasbro previewed during their annual Comic-Con Star Wars Day panel, we have some good things to look forward to for the back to school/holiday season and Q1 of  2015.
