Since the idea was introduced to fans, the idea of a Walgreens-exclusive Boba Fett Concept Armor brought about much anxiety to fans. Would he be made in big enough numbers to cover all 5,000 locations? Would the pre-sale online cover people? Would you have to drive around with a bunch of sick people sneezing on you while you hunt toys because of your crippling toy addiction? Let's just look at the figure - he's pretty good. Read on!
The 6-inch Luke Skywalker in his Jedi gear may not be perfect, but it's one of my favorites. It does not exceed its mandate, but it works - hands hold weapons. Belt fits. Lightsaber hangs on hook. Figure stands, sits. It's rare that a figure can do pretty much anything you expect it to and not have severe balance issues - his joints are nice and tight. I've been talking all day so I'm exhausted. Read on!
Check out the Shadow Scout in today's Figure of the Day! It's similar to some 3 3/4-inch figures, but it's 6-inches tall. The blaster, however, is basically the same size for some reason. Read on for more!
I got this swell Shadow Stormtrooper Commander 6-inch action figure in the mail over the weekend, and it is indeed swell. Essentially a black, backpack-free Sandtrooper, it's basically exactly what you would want in such a thing. 3 guns cast in dark grey. Pauldron. Glossy helmet lenses. Read on!
Apparently Zeb has a cool hat! This is the Star Wars Rebels Hero Series Deluxe Zeb action figure. Enjoy it in good health. There are pictures after the jump.
This is exhausting. At NYCC, Hasbro also revealed new Mission Series Star Wars Action Figures 2-packs. R2-D2 and Yoda, Ezra Bridger as Imperial Cadet and Kanan Jarrus again, Luke Skywalker in Stormtrooper Disguise and Princess Leia, plus Hoth Luke and Hoth Han are all on deck.
Saga Legends continues! NYCC reveals were designed to make the kids of the 1980s ecstatic with Lando Calrissian in Skiff Guard Disguise, Han Solo in Bespin Jacket, plus Luke Skywalker in X-Wing Pilot outfit. It's a good day!
Ah, armchair reporting! It's great. Hasbro sent along a batch of photos of new Star Wars goodness from their "Twas The Night Before Party." In here, you'll find 3 3/4-inch Star Wars The Black Series C-3PO, Princess Leia in Boushh Disguise, Mosep Binneed, Commander Thorn, Han Solo in Carbonite, and a pair of Jawas! What's not to love?
While my budget for travel basically covers trips to toy stores and the occasional bike ride to Wal-Mart, I'm seeing a ton of great coverage from New York City at the Hasbro party before New York Comic Con. New 6-inch and 3 3/4-inch Star Wars figures were shown, as are some nifty new Transformers toys. Seeing as you can get all-new Leia Boushh figures in regular and extra-large sizes, clearly it's a great time to be alive.
UPDATED with more links to Mission Series and Saga Legends images.
Steven Anne is the toy buyer for Walgreens, and on Twitter he confirms solid cases of 8 Concept Armor Boba Fetts are coming in November. The 6-inch Black Series action figure is in circulation now, potentially mixed with other Star Wars characters like Luke, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and a redeco Sandtrooper which should be in stores elsewhere real soon. He writes:
Toys R Us' new Hasbro exclusive Star Wars Rebels Mission Series The Ghost action figure set is making the rounds for $19.99 a pop if you can find it. (My closest store doesn't seem to have any yet.) In it, you get Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger - which may be identical to the single-carded versions, we'll see - plus an exclusive holographic Obi-Wan Kenobi. It's quite nice. I have 3 short videos (one for each) after the break.
Because we're well past the point where making "Better than Ezra" jokes are funny, let's just say that Hasbro's Ezra Bridger turned out quite nicely. There's a lot of deco and fun details on a figure with only 5 points of articulation. There's also no gun, no lightsaber, not a single luxury. Like Robinson Crusoe, it's just a helmet. Read on!
Unless there are running changes we don't know about, there should be three versions of this Kanan Jarrus in circulation before Thanksgiving. One is in the Toys R Us exclusive 3-pack, another is packaged with the Phantom at Target, and the third is individually carded in the Saga Legends assortment. It's a nice figure - good sculpt, clean deco, and it stands nicely too. Read on!
For the first time in years, I'm actually really pleased with a holographic figure! Obi-Wan Kenobi is exclusive to Toys R Us and started showing up in my neck of the woods over the weekend. The set has 3 figures and is $19.99, and is arguably worth the asking price. He has one point of articulation - and I'm scratching my head to name another full-size 3 3/4-inch humanoid Star Wars figure with only one joint - with a really wonderful sculpt and pose. And he's hollow. Read on!
Despite having just reset recently, Toys R Us stores are re-resetting with a new area filled with Marvel and Star Wars - Hasbro and LEGO mixed - near their usual spot in the stores. New toys are hitting right now, including the Mission Series: The Ghost set pictured here. The Ezra Bridger and Kanan Jarrus figures are assumed similar (if not identical) to the regular releases, but you'll note that there's a blacked-out window there for a third figure.
