While last year's focus was on The Empire Strikes Back's 30th Anniversary, this year is all about "Getting Revenge". Marvel properties may be the movie darlings of 2011, but Hasbro remains dedicated to their Vintage mission, though most of what they showed at Comic-Con was packaging alone, as they largely touted their show exclusive Revenge of the Jedi Death Star set.
The set includes 12 repacked figures, Salacious Crumb, and a Mouse Droid carded novelty like in "Revenge of the Jedi" vintage cardbacks and encased in a handsome Death Star package. The set retails for $140 at the HasbroToyShop booth, is reportedly very limited, and you can only buy 1 per attendee. HTS cut off the line for Preview Night around 8 pm, much to the chagrin of many who waited in line from the start of the show. You either accept this set for what it is or you don't, and we're guessing most convention goers will open up their wallets for it.
Hasbro usually staggers their reveals for the Con over a few days, especially after their Friday presentation, so we're hoping to see more than a few new figures from TVC Wave 7. The mail-away White Fett would be a safe bet, but the new Darth Maul Episode 1 packaging for the 3D re-release will more likely be showcased at Toy Fair in February.
Hasbro continued their tradition of nice free swag for the Con. Keeping with their "Get Revenge" theme, Hasbro handed out posters with an action figure twist on the original 1983 Revenge poster on one side and the 2011 Vintage Collection on the other. They also gave away a Revenge TIE Figher Pilot proof card and a "Get Revenge" Death Star temporary tatoo. More Revenge proof cards featuring different characters will be handed out each day of the Con, we're sure.
The Clone Wars line also had a good representation and those fans of Season 3 eagerly awaiting their Savage Oppress action figure will not be disappointed. There's also the rest of Wave 12 with new renditions of Kit Fisto, Saesee Tiin, Plo Koon, and a first entry for a TCW Even Piell and Chewbacca.Other highlights for Hasbro is the cool Mandalorian Assault Transport (MSRP $24.99) with seating for a squad of 6.
If you have the original tools, and they're still workable, use them and package them Kenner style. Some exclusives of note include the packaging for the exclusive Vintage Y-wing (MSRP $29.99) and slightly redecoed Landspeeder (MSRP $16.99). You'll love the retro Vintage packaging for these, as well as the Tauntaun's. The Death Star Trench Run Battle Pack (MSRP $99.99) includes two of the more iconic Star Wars ship and their correlating pilots.
More Hasbro news to come the next few days, especially on Friday for Hasbro's always highly anticipated presentation. Stay tuned.

Seeing that photo-op throne makes we so desperately wish Hasbro would come up with a new figure scaled version!
