She's new! Delayed from The Last Jedi, this Maz Kanata (Solo: A Star Wars Story Line Look) looks the same but has the revised 2.0 Force Link chip. If you got The Force Awakens Maz, you've basicaly got this figure - except the accessories. Read on!
Via CSA: Toys ‘R’ Us moves to sell 284 properties. The actual stores owned by the former toy giant are about to go up for sale, which pours cold water on the hopes that the stores might reopen under the existing names. It could still open again some day, but the resurrection of the toy giant seems to just not be in the cards for the USA anymore. While it's not impossible someone might use the name to open a new chain of stores in the distant future - or a catalog, or a web site - this is another nail in the coffin for the very reason many of us had a good reason to go on toy runs for so long.
Dead figures are a rarity in Star Wars, but soaking wet dog people? That's new. The Chewbacca (Mimban) figure is specifically from a scene in Solo: A Star Wars Story in which Han meets the Wookiee for the very first time, introduced to him as "The Beast." The figure is covered in mud and looks like a cross between the scary monster we first see in the film, and the friendly furball we have known for our entire lives. Read on!
This week in Q&A - Classic figures of the future - I wrote this before SDCC. Let's see if I was right. (Sure.) And General Veers. X-Plus figures are also on the docket.
Be sure you send in your questions for next week. Read on!
Hasbro revealed some freshness for us, plus a long-requested return of Darth Revan - yes, the 2007 figure. Finally.
Other new figures include a Rogue One Stormtrooper using the Mimban Stormtrooper body and a helmet from the 5-points-of-articulation figure. It looks good.
Lando Calrissian and Han Solo are on the way from Solo.
You've possibly seen this, but this 4-pack of Solo: A Star Wars Story Action Figures brings you Han Solo (new, coat), Qi'ra (new outfit), Weazel (new), and a Range Trooper (build your armies). 3 out of 4 plus a desirable trooper ain't bad - this set should hit around September at video time.
After the first few waves came and went without a standard Han in it, we were wondering what future was there for Solo toys. The good news is Hasbro was more than ready for us, with several of the principle characters getting toys in the very near future. Val will join L3-37, Tobias Beckett, Rio Durant, Han Solo as Imperial Infantry, and Quay Tolsite.
At this time it was not specified if these figures were singles, 2-packs, or exclusives somewhere. But they look pretty ready to go, so there's that.
After a pretty dry run, it's nice to see a big shot of variety, newness, and something we can recognize in this line. Even if it's from a movie you didn't see, probably. But that's not my fault - it was a fun movie and you should've gone to see it by now! Read on for more images.
That's not a typo. It's really happening.
For years, fans have been clamoring for playsets from Hasbro - ever since we got the Cantina and Jabba's Palace dioramas around 1997 and 1998, I've been a pest about more flat, simple environments. Weirdly, we're getting one from Solo: A Star Wars Story of Vandor-1. It's about $40, has a few plastic elements, and includes another flavor of Chewbacca.
While you may disagree - and you would be wrong - this is one of the most significant announcements in quite some time. Hasbro hasn't made an item that's just an environment - not an environment tucked in a vehicle - in about a decade when it comes to the 3 3/4-inch scale. It looks weirdly retro with plastic doors and other bits, so I can't wait to get my hands on one when it comes out. Hopefully in September, to coincide with the home video releases.
Ad: Don't miss this Star Wars The Last Jedi Figure 5-Pack - Exclusive! It was just announced at Comic-Con and is available to order now at Entertainment Earth. Five figures are included, with the gem of the set being a unique holographic Maz Kanata - the first clear blue figure in this size in quite some time.
At the Hasbro fan breakfast yesterday, we got a look at the Imperial Patrol Trooper coming to The Black Series at some point in the next few months. I't from Solo: A Star Wars Story which a straw poll around here seems to indicate a lot of fans didn't even bother to go see - a shame, as it looks more like a Star Wars movie when it comes to characters and costumes.
I really am impressed by Han Solo (Mimban) as it's a good example of Hasbro using the medium. The muddy figure is molded in mostly one color, with a tiny hint of a wash to bring out more definition. The texture is good, the color is spot-on, and the likeness... well, it isn't perfect. But using environmental-based decoration to smooth over paint applications (or negate them completely) is creative as it gets. Read on!
The Black Series continues with Val. She didn't get to do much in the film, but she made enough of an impact to get a toy in a few months! This 6-inch action figure was previewed Wednesday night in two places.
I n a heist diorama from Solo: A Star Wars Story, Hasbro showed some rarely-seen new figures including what may be a new Han Solo. Note his goggles and coat - this figure has not been previously announced. I assume we'll hear more about the 6-inch action figure and his cohorts (including Val) on Friday.
Lando's droid gal pal, navigator, and future brains of the Millennium Falcon was on display at Comic-Con. The 6-inch scale The Black Series figure joins Val and others, presumably later this year, and if you're here you can see L3-37 in a diorama or on the display shelves.
Also expected for 2019, this Yak Face was first previewed at Toy Fair. And here it is in color, in person! For me. You're not here.
The figure didn't seem to have a visible accessory - so I don't know if it has a Nikto pike, or a Gaffi stick, or something else - but it does look a little truer to the original movie costume. I like it.
