Whether it be action figures or animated television series, the tea leaves certainly pointed to the inevitability of change and the ever evolving dynamic of the Disney acquisition and new films. In a further effort to focus their attention and resources to those new films, StarWars.com announces the future of The Clone Wars and Star Wars Detours.
With few new Hasbro Star Wars toys showing up in stores, Star Wars collectors and podcast hosts Marjorie and Arnie must look online to build their collection. On this week's podcast, they review two new mail-order additions to their collection! First, they review the Brian's Toys exclusive Jocasta Nu action figure from Hasbro. Then they look at the first statue in Kotobukiya's new Star Wars Bishoujo line--Jaina Solo.
From our sponsors at BriansToys.com: Check out the Zappy STAP Scooter over at Brian's Toys! This rare and unique scooter is depicted after the Battle Droid S.T.A.P. in Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Steve Sansweet recounts the scooter in his Star Wars: 1,000 Collectibles book.
It's Monday, so let's keep Q&A a-goin'! Let's talk Yoda line look because I love to be depressed. And why not talk about Ahsoka since the last season of The Clone Wars wrapped up and spoilers are now merely facts? And what of that AT-AT from Endor? Well... it's another annoyance, really. We have a lot of those this week. Read on!
Have you been putting off buying The Clone Wars on DVD or Blu-Ray? If so, and if you have some cash, Amazon has the seasons on DVD starting at $18.49 and on Blu-Ray for $24.49. You might have heard that the show is the best thing ever. You might have heard it's an unwatchable mess. The truth lay somewhere in the middle. Read on for more! UPDATE: It would seem prices are now back up to normal.
Gotta have my Pops! Davish Krail has a less recognizable name on the box, but it's a pilot and that's most of what you needed to know anyway. Interestingly, the figure differs from the build on the back of the box. Want to know the difference?
Hasbro improved a mold in a big way with Chewbacca last year. First released in 2011, the figure needed a tiny bit of work, which it got for the 2012 reissue. Better paint? Check. Improved articulation? Close enough.
This Jango Fett is the one you're most likely to find at an American toy store right now - and it's pretty unlikely you'll see his Geonosis Arena Battle set outside clearance aisles. He's based on a 2002 mold, and is also the newest version of the character, meaning this is the one that kids could end up with if they get the new-for-2013 Jango Fett Slave I vehicle. And he doesn't really fit. But I digress, the figure is interesting enough and the set (as a whole) is nice.
Dark Horse releases their soliciation for May 2013 that includes #5 of the new and highly popular Star Wars series, where Luke Skywalker finds himself saving Princess Leia once again as she is caught between two squadrons of TIE Fighters. Check out the other titles and cover pages after the jump!
For fans of Star Wars 3.75-inch figures the news is bad. No new figures will be shipping for months, rumors of Target removing all Star Wars items from their toy aisles abound, and the last wave of Clone Wars figures can only be found in Germany and Canada.
From our sponsors at Brian's Toys: Set your sights on the long anticipated eFX Collectibles Imperial TIE Fighter model. eFX went above and beyond to ensure this model would be the most accurate replica of this iconic starship. You can pick one up today over at Brian's Toys.
This week on The Clone Wars: Events are shown to have actual consequences with The Wrong Jedi. Like last season's final arc, we see events actually cause big changes to the Clone Wars storyline, with actual weight, things that matter, and a reason to tune in for a change. Also, Tim Curry is this week's surprise guest voice. HUGE spoilers and video after the break.
The vintage Emperor's Royal Guard has a great piece count with too much gear for any sensible person... unless you can find a way to army-build it, in which case it's pretty awesome. There's still a tiny bit of room for improvement here, but it's pretty amazing overall. Check this one out!
Sooooo Anakin Skywalker here is today's Figure of the Day! I just saw a case of these 2-packs at Target over the weekend, which is surprising as they were full price. Based on a 2000 mold with a new-for-2012 helmet, this uniquely decorated action figure is good at standing around and is less good at piloting vehicles. Should you buy the 2-pack? How about for Vader?
It's Monday, so let's keep Q&A going! Let's talk about Micro Figures and that trend, as well as the new Large 6-Inch Black Series, which will no doubt be a regular topic between now and the time it becomes unprofitable. (And if 7-inch Unleashed is any indication, for years beyond.) Who wants Wild Saga Legends Speculation? I DO! Oh, and we can talk about Droid Factory at Disney too, as I may be the only one who basically hates how that whole thing works out. Read on!
