In 2019, Target will get a new version of Luke Skywalker in Stormtrooper Disguise - note the slicked-back hair. Slickback emeritus come complete with helmet, communicator, blaster, and what may well be some sort of sewage deco. Delicious.
Joining him is GameStop's Rocket Trooper, which you probably also don't recognize. The classic Stormtrooper body got a new helmet and a few other modifications for its release next year.
Hasbro didn't have a lot new to reveal at New York Comic Con so far, but we got a few new shots of things you might have missed. A deluxe General Grievous will join an utterly stunning Walgreens Exclusive Obi-Wan Kenobi from Clone Wars, 2003-style. (Nicely done, Steve, I'm jealous.) Both are 2019 items - expect Grievous in the first half and Kenobi late in 2019.
Toys R Us will survive in Canada, and they have this exclusive Stormtrooper. It's a lot like our other troopers with a stand and some flame accessories, and it's CAN$49.99. A standard figure is CAN$29.99, so it's $20 extra for two painted flame pieces, a new blaster, a couple of black paint splotches, and a grey display base. We'll post more about when or if this becomes available elsewhere.
Ad: Get your Star Wars The Black Series Admiral Piett 6-Inch Action Figure - Exclusive! You won't find him in big box stores, and he's $21.99 right now.
Uploading pictures takes a while, and there are a bunch of them. New The Black Series action figures include: Gamorrean Guard (Target exclusive), Astromech Droids R5-D8 & R2-X2 & R2-D2 (Amazon), Hoth Leia, Commander Wolffe (Gamestop/Disney/Barnes & Noble shared), Zuckuss (Toys R Us), Skiff Guard Lando, Han Solo, Qi-Ra, Lando Calrissian (Solo), Tobias Beckett, Range Trooper, and a Mimban Stormtrooper (Walmart). That's a lot of stuff.
The Porg 2-pack is a value-priced item. Available very, very soon. (Very soon.)
Hasbro has two new "prop" toys this time around. One is a giant Darth Vader helmet replica, and it's huge. It was displayed in a big round glass case, but the actual toy will come in a black cardboard box.
The other toy is The First Order's Riot Baton, used by Stormtroopers in the sequel trilogy. It expands, flips, spins, and is generally awesome.
Presumably you'll want more pictures, and we do have some of those after the jump.
Hasbro's The Black Series Centerpiece Kylo Ren is the best figure in this line. Vader is OK. Luke, not so hot. But Kylo Ren is perfect. The figure replicates the moment from The Force Awakens where he shows off by freezing a blaster bolt in the air, raising the tension of the theaters by 100%. I've been dying to post a picture of this, so I hope you dig it as much as I do.
It's no Sail Barge, but none of the statues of Kylo Ren have captured this introductiory moment of awesomeness from 2015. If you see it in person, you're going to love it - and even though it's a Hasbro product, it's comparably awesome to other statue products in the marketplace right now.
The new Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi (Force Spirit) hit in September, and our pal Phil is already finding them for $14.99! I haven't even seen these in all stores in my area yet, but they are making the rounds. In most major cities you can throw a rock and hit a Walgreens, or two.
If you're lucky you might also find some basic figures from the newer waves next to this Force Spirit. Happy hunting!
Amazon's new exclusives are here early! Amazon's Star Wars The Black Series Elite Praetorian Guard (with Heavy Blade) has a unique helmet and two distinctive weapons you won't find in other exclusives or the individual figures. Grab yours here.
The Star Wars The Black Series First Order Stormtrooper with Gear includes a figure with a new helmet for The Last Jedi in addition to some new and previously seen accessories like the riot baton, riot shield, ammo pouch, jet pack, and more. Click here to order it.
If you were lucky, you also found Luke Skywalker (Jedi Master, The Black Series) 3 3/4-inch figure during the Force Friday II weekend memorial toy launch and BBQ at a Walmart near you... and it probably didn't ring up, either. Well, they're in circulation and it's a pretty good figure - it has articulation and a cloth cloak, while the cheaper, more findable one has less articulation and a really good plastic cloak. Which should you buy? Both, but read on!
The big figures are in this season, so we're happy to see new guys and more importantly, new old guys. There are new movie characters, there are original trilogy characters, and one of my absolute favorites is getting a big upsizing! In today's reveals, you'll find 5 new 6-inch action figures which could be in your hands over the next year.
New at Toys R Us, the exclusive Star Wars: The Black Series Action Figure - Rey (Jedi Training) on Crait has been revealed! She's due in November for $34.99. The figure is a new one, more or less, with added cloth elements and a display base.
I had some time, so I threw up some more prototype pictures of the Landspeeder. Maybe you didn't see them, maybe you did, but here they are again with more angles. A panel for The Black Series was rescheduled from the web times, and I caught a livestream of it. As far as I can tell, there were no product reveals in the stream - so let's gawk over this Landspeeder some more!
I just snapped a few more (or better) shots of items the other day. Maybe you've seen these, but if not here's another look. (No, not another Luke.)
The Titan Hero Series Yoda is a great mishmash of his design from The Empire Strikes Back and the prequels, including his snake and cane from the Kenner era plus a lightsaber from the not-as-old era. I've felt that these 12-inch scale figures have been generally great - their only real shortcoming is my preferene for Original Trilogy-era characters, of which there have been precious few at this size. The production sample of Yoda looked so incredible that for $10, I'd strongly recommend everybody give him a good look when he hits stores in a little while.
