Classic: A 2014 Video of Star Wars Rebels The Phantom

While once $20, the Star Wars Rebels The Phantom shuttle is now out of production. Fans take Hasbro vehicle engineering for granted, because even the kid stuff was pretty spectacular. This one had three slide-out cannons, fold-out wings, an articulated rocket launcher, plus an opening cockpit and an opening rear. There was some room for accessory storage, plus a back seat for another figure.

We don't see this kind of innovation in ships much any more. Right now, things on the high end spend the pennies mostly on exquisite paint deco and intricate internal machinery that you wouldn't miss if it were missing. On the low end, Hasbro cuts out a lot of frills to get stuff down to (admittedly very compelling) low prices. A modern kid's speeder toy is $20 with a figure. An X-Wing is a mere $30. They're good for different reasons, but I kind of love the middle ground Hasbro was staking out in 2014.

Back in 2014 Target had an exclusive bundle with The Phantom and a pack-in Kanan Jarrus figure. Everybody else had the ship by itself. Today a loose complete ship is around $65. Admittedly it's a little high, but it goes great with your Ahsoka The Retro Collection Hera, Chopper, and Sabine action figures. I'd still recommend it.
