The secret is out - and has been out - but the 40th Anniversary Collection has a big launch that's more of a big relaunch. Fans have been clamoring for "the original 12" in every expression possible, so now it's being completed with the 6-inch action figures. This means we're getting a mix of retools, repacks, and new figures. If you missed R2-D2, here's your chance to get one for $20. If you want Walgreens' C-3PO, it's coming back, as is Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, a Stormtrooper, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Princess Leia Organa with a Hasbro-confirmed new head sculpt.
New figures include a Tusken Raider (also in the standard packaging), Jawa, and the Death Squad Commander (Star Destroyer Commander). Darth Vader will be represented by an all-new figure based on Rogue One and Star Wars armor packaged with a remake of the classic "Early Bird Kit" stand in a gift set - and yes, he'll be on a vintage cardback. So it's a boxed stand with a carded figure inside it.
Exclusives revealed were R5-D4, said to be exclusive to Entertainment Earth (this may be subject to change) and a Celebration-exclusive foil-carded X-Wing Pilot Luke Skywalker. At this time, these 14 are the only figures in this style of packaging.
