It's coming! Season 5 of The Clone Wars will be out on DVD and Blu-Ray. Not only will it be sold in a set by itself, but a better, much cheaper Blu-Ray of all 5 seasons is coming to penalize those of us that bought the sets along the way.
For those who missed it, this season had some great arcs. Ahsoka got to tell Tarkin to shove it. R2-D2 got to hang out with a gaggle of Astromechs on strange worlds under the command of Walter Matthau. Blue Snaggletooth and Black Sun showed up. And of course, we got to see Onderon be less awesome than it was in the comic books 20 years ago.
To break it down, season 5 on DVD or Blu-Ray is going to be $30ish and $40ish, respectively.
But all 5 seasons on Blu-Ray will be a blisteringly cheap $105. Those of you who've been putting off buying the series, you're in luck. Those of me who bought the seasons one by one over the years, well, uh, yeah. Go head and get the big box if you're on the fence - there are some episodes which are as awful as the amazing ones are amazing, so it's a good way to spend 22 minutes a night with your kids/pets/self.
The "bonus content" of unaired episodes as alluded to by Lucasfilm employees has yet to be confirmed for release on these or other formats. As soon as we hear something, we'll let you know, or you'll hear about it somewhere else and you can tell us. Either way, we're all in this together.
